Thursday Monarch Spur Trail

After grabbing lunch at the Ale House and unsuccessfully shopping for a climbing helmet that fits, July 4th was spent getting to Salida for a few days. I went for a quick jog on what I think of as the "Walmart Trail", since it goes from downtown Salida to the Walmart. The official name is the Monarch Spur Trail.

There were Independence Day goings-on including music in the park, and people were streaming downtown. No fireworks due to the fire bans, but still lively. As I headed out west from downtown, the sounds faded and dusk began to fall.

Distance was 5.46 miles, time 1:10 (moving 1:02), elevation gain/loss 198 feet, avg. pace 12:54 (moving 11:22), and best pace 8:31.

I just made it in time for a decent dinner before last call.
