Grays And Torreys 2006

From the archives, this is a pre-blog, pre-GPS outing on Greys and Torreys Peaks, two of the first 14,000-foot peaks I climbed (ran?) after moving to Colorado.

It's amazing I was even able to find my way to the top without electronic devices. I mean, look at this rugged path:


I don't even know if I was running peaks back then, although I'd been running for about 7 years. It's probably time for another trip back there.


This was also before I'd filled up my hard drive with wildflower photos:


These pictures were taken with my Canon SD400, which was a great camera and my first digital model. Honestly, in terms of basic performance and clarity, it was better than what you can get nowadays from Canon's SD series. I had to move up to the more expensive S series recently to match it. And it took more reliably-focused macro shots.

Once I got back home, I went for a stroll on Green Mountain in Lakewood. Kind of like decompression before going back indoors. Amazingly I spotted a tornado out on the plains east of Aurora:
