There were clouds clinging to the foothills, which was interesting at least.
I just love seeing the bones of large mammals scattered all over the trail, when I start out on an evening run without a headlamp -- a fact I didn't discover until I actually needed it.
The steady mist had been freezing on trees on the upper slopes:
I only intended to do 30 minutes of running, but once I got to the loop on top I was feeling pretty good, so I went for it and did a loop of the summit.
All the trees and plants are covered with ice, by the way. It's cracking and falling off as I run by and brush against it. At first I thought it was dry leaves, then I realized it was ice.
It was pretty tough to keep running in the dark, by the end. Glad I knew this trail well.
